Hook-Ups was created in 1994 by Jeremy Klein. Heavily inspired by Japanimation or "Anime", which is a style of cartoon animations originating in Japan with distinctive character and background aesthetics. Common imagery used for the brand are sexy schoolgirls and busty nurses.
